Not often do opportunities present themselves like that of the new campus vision within the Cordova Hills Master Plan. The plan includes 224 acres for an institution or institutions of higher education, located on a broad plateau with majestic views of the Cosumnes River basin and Sierra Nevada mountains in the distance.
The site lies adjacent to the newest city in the Sacramento Region, and only five miles from the second largest jobs center in the six County Sacramento Metropolitan Area. Intel, Franklin Templeton Investments, Vision Service Plan (VSP) and several financial and insurance related businesses are nearby.
The owners of Cordova Hills intend to donate the land to a credible user, and will assist with the up-front costs of major infrastructure to the site. Other financial assistance may be available in an effort to help complement the Sacramento Region's educational resources. Working closely with the County of Sacramento, City of Rancho Cordova, local and metropolitan chambers of commerce and others, it is our intention to attract a needed educational component to our region.
Conceptual campus planning has been on-going and continuously updated, and is led by the renowned planning and architectural firm of Holabird and Root (Chicago) which was chosen after a national competition in 2008 to assist in the specific campus planning effort. Their focused work complements the overall plan, as accomplished by William Hezmalhalch Architects, of Irvine, California.
